MINIMUM DONATION $5
Members of the Grilled Cheese Society will need to pay $5 per person for the Society dues, but each grilling team gets 3 free memberships.
The highest scoring sammich will win a free plane ticket to compete in the National GCI on April 25th in Los Angeles.

The Grilled Cheese Invitational is an official competition with prizes awarded for different categories of Grilled Cheese. All judging is done using standardized ballots and a patented, supercomputer that scientifically tabulates the results to determine the winners. This is a serious competition and only the strong will achieve victory in The Grilled Cheese Invitational, with all the associated bragging rights available therein.
All those looking to compete in the Invitational MUST READ the rules and regulations before they register their sammich.

The 2nd Annual Austin Regional Grilled Cheese Invitational will be the best thing to happen to Texas ever!
Attendees are handed sammiches and rate them accordingly. We then tabulate the results, dispense trophies and wrap ourselves up in the cheese glory!
Awards are determined by audience vote for each sammich.
For the winners, there will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophy awarded in each category. There will also be a Spaz award that will be given to the sammich that is the biggest Spaz!
For the Austin regional competition, the organizers of the GCI have selected four categories of competition, definitions are as follows:
The Missionary Position: Standard bread, standard butter and standard cheese. No additional ingredients or flavorings allowed.
The Kama Sutra: Any kind of bread, any kind of butter, and any kind of cheese (or blend of cheeses) plus additional ingredients.
The Honey Pot: Any kind of bread, any kind of butter, any kind of cheese (or blend of cheeses), and any additional ingred ients, but a sandwich that is sweet in flavor, or would best be served as dessert.
Lambada: You asked, you get! Announcing the Dance of Love, a new category specific to the Austin Regional....quesadillias! All types, with or without meat, sweet or not, will compete in the lambada and dance like everyone is watching and staring! The only rules for this specific category are 60% cheese on the inside of the quesadilla and the "bread" must be a tortilla. (NOTE: This category is specific to the Austin Regional. If proceeding to nationals, the winner will be placed in the appropriate category that best suits the Lambada's ingredients).
On March 14th, we will part the mighty mountain of fresh-baked loaves, wade knee-deep in the melted cheese and swim eye-high in the butterfat, but only a few, only the proud, the cheesiest, will earn the sacred right to hold a glimmering, golden trophy aloft for all to see and scream to the malignant heavens above: "I am a f@#king grilled cheese champion™!"

Note: Each competitor must arrive by 6:15pm and be ready to prepare at least 20 samples (5 sammiches cut into quarters) of their sammich. |
